The Housing Foundation delivers affordable housing options for working New Zealand households who are finding it difficult to buy a secure, warm, dry home. Established in 2003, Housing Foundation has developed and constructed over 1150 homes, assisting hundreds of renting families become first time homeowners. Housing Foundation partners with government agencies, iwi, Māori and community organisations to achieve its mission of providing affordable housing.
With a growing development pipeline (250 homes) and an eagerness to acquire more land, Housing Foundation is recruiting for a Senior Development Manager to focus on delivering its current pipeline and growing its development programme, and managing a small development team responsible for delivering its development programme and the maintenance of its homes. The role reports to the CEO and be instrumental in driving the successful delivery of projects mainly in Auckland and also elsewhere in New Zealand, including Omokoroa and Christchurch.

Key Accountabilities:
- Identify development opportunities that achieve Housing Foundation affordable housing mission.
- Undertaking detailed feasibility and financial analysis of prospective developments and developing business case support for board approval
- Manage multiple projects and consultants to deliver housing developments.
- Manage the full cycle of development, from concept to defects liability.
- Oversee, mentor, and manage a team comprising of an Assistant Development Manager and Project Manager.
- Create a neighbourhood and a place that households are proud to belong to.
- Work with other community housing providers, Iwi, Māori Organisations and Kainga Ora.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with all stakeholders – internal and external, especially with key government and council stakeholders.
- Ensure all employees and contractors understand and accept their responsibility to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Be responsible for ensuring our households and customers receive high-quality service.
- Identifying, negotiating, and acquiring land.
- Producing development feasibilities for viability.
- Preparing and presenting for board approval.
- Working closely with external stakeholders while managing the procurement, design, and consenting of projects.
- Managing the development programmes, consultants and contractors.
- Prepare board reports for Trustee meetings and attend Trustee meetings.
- Providing leadership and mentoring for staff by empowering them and building trust and rapport.
- Relevant tertiary Qualification.
- Team management experience
- Extensive stakeholder management experience
- Innate commercial awareness
- Strategic thinking/problem solving.
