Job description
Shape the Future of Infrastructure in Aotearoa
Join National Infrastructure Funding and Financing (NIFF), formerly Crown Infrastructure Partners, as a Project Manager and play a pivotal role in driving the effective delivery of infrastructure funds to eligible projects within the Cyclone Recovery Programme. This is your opportunity to collaborate with key stakeholders and influence project success, ensuring the effective deployment of funds designated for future proofing infrastructure that supports and protects local communities.
About Us:
NIFF serves as the New Zealand Government’s primary gateway for private capital investments into public infrastructure and acts as the centre of expertise on the funding and financing of public infrastructure across the country.
Our work includes financing transactions under the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act and managing several Government infrastructure funds, such as the Cyclone Recovery Fund, Infrastructure Reference Group Fund, Rural Drinking Water Fund, and various connectivity initiatives like Marae Digital Connectivity and the Rural Broadband and Mobile funds.
Today, our role has expanded to include partnerships with the private sector, central and local government, NGOs, and iwi to fund, finance, and deliver critical infrastructure, including connectivity, water, transport, flood protection, community facilities, and social infrastructure.
About the Role:
As a Project Manager, you will serve as the primary contact for assigned projects, fostering strong relationships with project representatives and stakeholders. You will oversee project execution (typically by others) under funding agreements and contracts, ensuring that milestones are delivered on time and to a high standard. Supporting project partners is key to the role, including identifying and resolving challenges, engaging external stakeholders, and facilitating expert input as required.
You will ensure robust financial integrity by managing funds, processing claims, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Acting as a strategic intermediary, you will collaborate with Territorial Local Authorities (TLAs), government agencies, iwi, communities, and private sector stakeholders to align efforts and drive successful outcomes. Additionally, you will provide oversight and drive accountability across partner programmes, ensuring that projects remain on track, within scope, and aligned with NIFF’s overarching goals.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will bring a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a similar technical discipline. You will also offer a combination of commercial acumen, strategic leadership, and technical understanding of infrastructure delivery.
You will have proven expertise in influencing and leading others, with the ability to engage, negotiate, and bring diverse stakeholders together to achieve common goals. Adaptability is essential, enabling you to thrive in ambiguous and fast-changing environments while making sound decisions with limited information.
Exceptional communication skills will allow you to confidently present complex information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences. A solutions-focused mindset will drive you to proactively identify challenges, develop viable solutions, and implement them efficiently. Political savvy is also key, as you navigate political and organisational dynamics with confidence.
Why Join Us?
This is your chance to contribute to projects that matter. NIFF plays a crucial role in delivering infrastructure outcomes that strengthen Aotearoa’s economy, communities, and environment. You’ll work with a high-performing team dedicated to ensuring critical infrastructure projects succeed, while fostering meaningful collaboration across government, iwi, and private sectors.
If you are ready to make an impact, Apply Now to become part of a high performing team dedicated to building New Zealand’s future. Alternatively, for a confidential discussion about this opportunity, please contact Rachel McNickle on rachel@assemblerecruit.com or 027 274 6821.
