Job description
Are you an experienced commercial professional with a passion for driving transformative infrastructure funding and finance deals? National Infrastructure Funding and Finance (NIFF), formerly Crown Infrastructure Partners, is seeking a Commercial Manager to support the end-to-end commercial transaction process. In this role, you’ll work on attracting and structuring private financing deals to help fund essential infrastructure projects across New Zealand.
About Us:
NIFF serves as the New Zealand Government’s primary gateway for private capital investments into public infrastructure and acts as the centre of expertise on the funding and financing of public infrastructure across the country.
Our work includes financing transactions under the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act and managing several Government infrastructure funds, such as the Cyclone Recovery Fund, Infrastructure Reference Group Fund, Rural Drinking Water Fund, and various connectivity initiatives like Marae Digital Connectivity and the Rural Broadband and Mobile funds.
Today, our role has expanded to include partnerships with the private sector, central and local government, NGOs, and iwi to fund, finance, and deliver critical infrastructure, including connectivity, water, transport, flood protection, community facilities, and social infrastructure.
About the Role:
As the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in originating, developing, and managing infrastructure transactions using private capital. Reporting to the GM Commercial, you will support complex negotiations, build strong partnerships with local and central government agencies, and collaborate with private investors. Your efforts will help drive the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects that benefit communities across New Zealand.
About You:
You are a strategic and commercially savvy professional with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of commercial experience, ideally within the infrastructure or construction sector. You have a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, contract negotiation, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Your experience includes working with Crown funding agreements, transaction structures, and special purpose vehicles (SPVs). With exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, you excel in building and maintaining strong relationships. You thrive in dynamic and ambiguous environments, demonstrating adaptability and decisiveness. Familiarity with working alongside local authorities and central government is an advantage.
If you are passionate about driving commercial success and have a proven track record of excellence, we would love to hear from you.
Why Join Us?
At NIFF, your work will very meaningfully contribute to addressing the critical infrastructure deficit that exists here in NZ, supporting economic resilience, and improving the quality of life across communities in a way that spans generations. That is the purpose that drives the incredible people who work here.
If you are ready to make an impact, Apply Now to become part of a high performing team dedicated to building New Zealand’s future.
