Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei are one of the hapū from the wider Ngāti Whātua iwi. The collective affairs of the sub-tribe are looked after by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust.
Te Tōangaroa is one of the largest, single ownership, landholdings in Tāmaki Makaurau’s central business district. It is also the last remaining piece in the regeneration of the urban waterfront, and the largest commercial asset of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. The master-plan of the asset focusses on a long-term flexible vision for Te Tōangaroa, which is aligned with the unique ability of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to consider multi-generational outcomes. These outcomes are underpinned by some key objectives that include guardianship of heritage and history, partnership, people, identity, connectivity and quality.
The Role
Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei now require an Property Manager who is able to support the core key objectives for Te Tōangaroa. The core purpose of the role is to assist in the asset management of the Te Tōangaroa freehold and leasehold property portfolio. This will include day to day property and asset management including assisting in executing, influencing and managing the Te Tōangaroa master-plan, to create long-term inter-generational wealth for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.
The asset management strategy will focus on understanding highest and best use of existing building assets and development sites, asset maintenance and optimisation of existing occupancies and lease opportunities.
Here you will be working alongside the Asset Manager, and be contributing across all investment aspects, lease negotiation, key stakeholder management and development opportunities.

Experience Required
Ideally the successful candidate should possess the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Property or related field;
- A commercial understanding of property valuation and commercial lease issues.
- Strong financial literacy.
- Experience in commercial property and facilities management and a strong grasp of technical issues and contractor liaison.
- Excellent negotiation skills;
- Proven project management skills in the planning and execution of property related projects;
- Strong communication and an adherence to Tikangi Māori
