Project Director:

The position in the Auckland office will work in close partnership with the senior management team, and will oversee, advise, deliver, streamline and directly manage both an experienced team and a significant portfolio across their specialty sectors. Completion of these projects on time, to budget and scope is the key deliverable of the position. 

The Project Director will have ultimate responsibility for the success of these projects, as well as identifying efficiencies across the project management function of the builds. It provides a great opportunity for an ambitious Senior Leader with a strategic mindset and a hunger to grow new business. You will build on the continued success of this Consultancy, implementing the company’s New Zealand growth strategy and leading strong expansion in new business development, whilst overseeing end-to-end delivery on projects. 
  
Skills and expertise include:
  • Actively pursuing and establishing new client relationships, and bringing in new business to cultivate strong growth and expand market share;
  • Formulating multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, interacting with a diverse set of clients and prospective clients;
  • Client-side project delivery responsibility including management for a program of works with multi-million dollar value;
  • Client management and consultation across all projects, attending and chairing project team meetings;
  • Planning approvals management, oversight and co ordinating the principles planning application during development, assessment, and approval phase;
  • Design management, from concept design to delivery;
  • Procurement management, planning and execution with responsibilities across the whole tendering process;
  • Overseeing site activities and coordinating with site resources, sub-contractors, suppliers, service authorities and other stakeholders to ensure accordance with all requirements;
  • Identifying and managing construction risks, escalating issues when required; and
  • Managing monthly project reporting for package of works, including program and cost management.

This role is diverse and challenging, and as such, you will draw on an array of skills to achieve – business development, strategic growth, leadership, and end-to-end project management. Including: 
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in project management, construction management or engineering;
  • 10+ years' experience including current or previous Project Director roles and track record;
  • Experience working on one or more asset classes, including commercial, education, retail, industrial;  
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic planning experience; 
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams;
  • Your superior stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills will ensure your future success as a Project Director; 
  • A track record delivering large scale commercial/retail, and/or projects $10m+ up to $100m.
