Hugh joined the Assemble team after working in land acquisition for one of New Zealand’s largest residential property developers. Prior to that, he was based in Melbourne where he recruited software engineers.

Hugh has successfully relaunched Assemble’s Engineering sector with a strong focus on Land Development. He has a genuine passion for working with engineers and understands that their aversion to risk can sometimes hinder their career progression. However, Hugh excels in collaborating with engineers to broaden their perspectives, helping them make informed and unbiased decisions about their next career move. He has built strong relationships with top engineering clients throughout Auckland, acting as an extension of them. Hugh is meticulous and understands the intricacies of what each client looks for in a candidate.

Hugh admits to being an industry nerd who loves keeping up to date with industry news and learning from his candidates and clients.

Outside of work, Hugh is sports mad and has a keen interest in politics and economics, which often leads to some robust debates.
